The hundredth book
Literature is obviously not about numbers, but yesterday the poetry volume was published that I got to make with Martijn van der Linden, Happy and blissfull (Dutch: 'Gelukkig en blij') and... it's my hundredth title.
The book was born from a deep groan from both of us. In these years of incomprehension and a society full of frustration we wanted to find out what role happiness plays in all this. We made a book with 50 poems that investigate bliss and grief through the minds and mouths of a few animals living on a tiny farm. The poems take turns being nonsensical and serious, and Martijn made unbelievalbly beautiful full page illustrations, because, well, he is a true ambassador of happiness.
