Edward van de Vendel

I'm extremely happy, honoured and touched because of the news that I am the laureate of the Dutch State Prize for children's and young adult literature 2024. The prize is awarded every three year and in November there will be a ceremony.

I am humbled by the list of previous recipients, such as Annie M.G. Schmidt, Paul Biegel, Toon Tellegen and Bibi Dumon Tak. I'm thankful for the considerations of the jury, for the efforts of my publisher Querido throughout the years, for the willingness of readers to open my books and for the amazing field of colleagues that I get to be a part of.
